Privacy-focused file manager for PC
FileFriend is a free file manager for PC developed by FileFriend. It is a file manipulation program that can be used to split a file into multiple parts or join them back together easily. In addition, users can password-protect any file or folder that they want to prevent access by anyone.
FileFriend also works like File Hider or Wise Folder Hider as it allows users to hide files, text, or even whole directories inside JPEG images. The tool is completely portable, allowing it to be copied over to a USB drive and used on any computer as needed.
How does FileFriend work?
FileFriend is portable and you can use it right away after opening it. It utilizes a simple UI with eight tabs for its various features. Starting from the left, the first two tabs are called Split and Join. The first allows you to split any file or folder into any number of pieces and file size you want while you can use the second to join them back together.
Next, Concat, or Concatenate, can be used to combine multiple files. Conversely, you can opt to Trim them instead, either at the head or by the tail end. Use Encrypt to secure your files with a password. The JPK and JTX tabs, are quite interesting as they let you hide things inside image files. The former keeps files or filers hid.
On the other hand, JTX is used for specific text. Lastly, the Compare tab will let you check the size between two files easily. Now, before you try this tool out, just note that it does not actually let you know what kind of encryption it uses, which is rather odd and can be something that might put you off.
